Frozen meatballs can never beat freshly home made ones. Preparing your own meatballs guarantees the fresh meat you’re eating and it is such a satisfaction too. Not very much ingredients needed but yet very delicious.
Baked meatballs in this lovely tomato sauce is a perfect partner to freshly boiled spaghetti
Meatballs in Tomato Sauce-Recipe adapted from Jamie Oliver TV programs
- For meatballs
- 500 gm minced meat
- 1 / 2 teaspoon cumin powder
- 1 / 2 teaspoon coriander powder
- 1 / 2 teaspoon chili powder
- 2 handful breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon dried oregano leaves / fresh
- 1 tablespoon chopped leaves rosemarry
- salt
- 1 teaspoon powdered blackpepper
- For tomato sauce
- 1 tin chopped tomatoes
- 1 seed in the chopped onions
- 1 garlic, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano leaves
- salt
- For baking
- mozarella cheese
- grated Parmesan
- Prepare meatballs: Mix all ingredients in large container. Mix well. Form meatballs as big as tennis ball size. In skillet, heat a little oil and fry meatballs all at once. Fry about 5 minutes on all sides.
- Prepare tomato sauce:Heat a little oil in a pan / pot. Fried onions and garlic until soft. Mix in the tomatoes, oregano and salt. Mix well and let to simmer.
- Transfer the tomato sauce into a container suitable to enter in the oven. Sort meatballs in tomato sauce and sprinkle mozarella and grated Parmesan on top. Bake at 220 degree C for about 15 minutes or until the top is golden.
